RUTH BANCROFT GARDEN

Where eucalyptus

Soar along with cirrus

And agaves pinpoint light

Festoons of crimson

Nimbly grace

Prickly pears’

Staunch embrace

Linden leaves fall

Like sunset parachutes

Greens of gold

In forms so old

Cups of drink

Within them slink

Dreams in air

Painted yearnings

Brushstrokes curving

Catching cotton

Swabbing longly

In shade well-trodden

Deep in souls

Not forgotten
